"Creative Learning Preschool and Child Care Center Inc. Receives NAEYC
Reaccreditation"
Creative Learning Preschool and Child Care Center (CLP), a state government sponsored child care center in Madison, received reaccreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Febraury 2002.
"Accreditation is a voluntary process that measures childhood programs like CLP against rigorous national standards of excellence," Mark Bugher, former Secretary of DOA noted. The NAEYC accreditation process considers health, safety, staff qualifications, administration, physical environment and other aspects of a child care program. Bugher stressed that the process places the greatest emphasis on children's relationships with child care staff and how the program helps each child grow and learn intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.
Creative Learning is a culturally diverse childcare center with a preschool program based upon the High/Scope Philosophy. This philosophy is directed toward the use of a child-directed/initiated curriculum and age appropriate play activities. Teachers are experienced, well-educated early childhood professionals who genuinely care about children and understand child development. The program offers a wide array of opportunities for children to enhance their physical skills through active play with state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor play equipment. It offers services for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Programming is also available for school age children during the summer.
